The Darwin Initiative is a UK government grants scheme that helps to protect biodiversity and the natural environment through locally based projects worldwide.
Projects typically try to address threats to biodiversity such as:
- invasive species
- habitat degradation and loss
- climate change mitigation and adaptation
The Darwin Initiative currently funds NatureFiji-MareqetiViti’s: Delivering on Sustainable Forest Management for Fiji’s People and Wildlife. The project is being implemented with the Fiji Department of Forests and BirdLife International.
