All the staff and the director of NatureFiji-MareqetiViti threshed out the work plan for 2012 in the lush green surrounds of the Raintree Lodge.
Surrounded by the beautiful gardens and thick green rainforest of the eco-friendly Raintree Lodge, in Colo-i-Suva, the NFMV team met to develop the 2012 annual plan over two days (4th-5th January).
The meeting was facilitated by Tamara Osborne-Naikatini and Anna Billings Sahai, NFMV’s capable Vodafone WOD intern.
It was a fitting setting for the production of our conservation strategies for the 11 active projects live in 2012.
Having the annual planning meet at this location meant our carbon footprint for the event was smaller than would be at a hotel conference facility elsewhere.

It is an annual exercise and each year the NFMV team review the projects of the year before and the staff performance, then plan for the year ahead. The planning meet is an important exercise and it is held at the very beginning of the working year.
During the meeting project managers develop sound, resourced, and feasible plans for the live projects, and exit/continuity plans for those projects that are ending at some point over the year.
The team looks at each staff members individual work plans with discerning eyes to identify issues of overloading or under-resourcing, and then revises the plans to suit.

At the end of the meet, a detailed report is produced and this serves as our guidelines for the year ahead (see attached document). In addition to project plans and staff work plans, the 2012 Annual Plan also sets out activities for our operations as an organisation, such as financial processes, staffing policies, and office procedures.
A calendar of all the important events and project deadlines is part of the plan, and this year each staff member carries a portable laminated printout of the calendar to refer to continually over the year.

The Annual Planning meet was a considered success as all the staff members have a clearer understanding of the 2012 activities and actions.
To our members and council, the NFMV team would like to wish prosperity and good conservation in 2012.
