NatureFiji-MareqetiViti participated in the International Secondary School 2012 Careers Day held on the 8th of March.
MareqetiViti was honoured to be invited at the 2012 Careers exhibition held by the International Secondary School (ISS) in their gymnasium on their Laucala Beach Estate school grounds.
NFMV was asked to showcase our organisation’s projects and to talk to students about how they can become involved or work in the environmental science/conservation field.
The objective of the careers evening was to inform students of the type of careers available for them upon graduation from the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme and what to pursue during tertiary studies. The evening event provided NFMV with an opportunity to inspire students to learn more about Fiji’s biodiversity, and to inform them of the lack of ecological information about Fiji’s endemic species, and the need for local scientists.
There were displays from other organizations or companies from a wide variety of fields such as banking and finance, accounting, arts and design, sports science, technology and engineering, medicine and libraries.
A total of twenty-five interested guests at the booth spoke to the members of the NFMV team during the 60 minute event. NFMV congratulates ISS on a successful careers exhibition and wishes their final year students all the best in their coursework and final examinations.
