MareqetiViti was invited to showcase their organisational profile to prospective employees at the FSTE Careers Evening, held at the USP Gymnasium.
MareqetiViti was in hot demand at the 2011 Careers exhibition held by the Faculty of Science, Technology and the Environment (FSTE) at the University of the South Pacific (USP) gymnasium. NFMV was asked to have two tables to showcase our organisation’s projects, one in Geography and the other in Biology.
The objective of the careers evening was to inform students of the type of careers available for them upon graduation. The event provided NFMV with an opportunity to inspire students to learn more about Fiji’s biodiversity, and to inform them of the lack of ecological information about Fiji’s endemic species, and the need for local scientists.
There were displays from various organizations such as Live and Learn, Secretariat of the Pacific Community, Wildlife Conservation Society, Greenpeace, Fiji Electricity Authority, Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Lands to name a few.
The throngs of interested students ranged from foundation level to post-graduate level. Some of the students who visited the NFMV tables were non life sciences students – they were students undertaking Mathematics or Computing science majors.
A total of sixty students spoke to members of the NFMV team during the 90 minute event.
NFMV congratulates the faculty on a successful careers exhibition and wishes the USP students all the best in their end-of-the-semester examinations.
