Fun For All Ages
Join BirdLife’s Dr. Mark O’Brien at the Nasese foreshore to get a closer look at some of our amazingly beautiful migratory shorebirds in their full breeding plumage. Meet at the shelter opposite Corpus Christi Teachers College ground (between Crystal restaurant and My Suva Park) on Saturday, 21 March at 12.30 PM. This particular site is of special scientific interest because the breeding waders have traveled thousands of miles to this spot in Fiji to feed as they get ready for breeding.
Dr. Mark O’Brien has been a passionate ornithologist since he was 5. He is the Pacific Regional Programme Coordinator for BirdLife International, based in Suva. Mark also facilitates eBird in Fiji, which is a global bird observation database full of fascinating bits of information about where and when to see birds.
Prior to moving to Fiji 10 years ago, he lived in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he spent a large part of his working life researching and applying conservation action for the benefit of breeding shorebirds. Mark is also known for his love for Rugby, having played when he was younger and is a mad Bath Rugby Team supporter.
